Support from a brewer is helping Michigan State University lead an effort that seeks to help reduce high-risk drinking behavior on and around college campuses.
The Anheuser-Busch Foundation has awarded more than $262,000 to the school to bring the National Social Norms Center to East Lansing.
The school says the work is focused on changing behaviors and misperceptions related to alcohol and drug use.
Dennis Martell, health promotion director at Olin Student Health Center and an expert on student health issues, will serve as the center's executive director.
The team also will oversee $200,000 from Anheuser-Busch that will fund other universities' social norms programs.
Katja Zastrow, a vice president with Anheuser-Busch, says in a statement the brewer is "committed to promoting the responsible enjoyment of our products."
