Union in talks on how to assist in human trafficking fight

Michigan's largest state employee union is talks about how thousands of government workers could assist more in the fight against human trafficking.
 
The Lansing State Journal reports  the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services and United Auto Workers Local 6000, which represents most of the department's employees, are in early conversations about how to get workers more training.
 
Ray Holman, the union's legislative liaison, says the union has "so many eyes out there and we deal with some of the groups that are at most risk for this."
 
Michigan has stepped up efforts in recent years to shield minor victims from prosecution and crack down criminals involved in human trafficking. DHHS spokesman Bob Wheaton says that the state is updating its protocols for child welfare workers.
