Gov. Rick Snyder is pledging that officials will make contact with every household in Flint to check if residents have a filter and bottled water during the city's drinking water crisis.
He also said Monday in Flint that his administration first confirmed lead problems around Oct. 1, after state agencies that report to him made mistakes earlier. He cites "major issues" at the Department of Environmental Quality, whose director recently resigned.
Snyder says Michigan's response in recent months wasn't "good enough" and he's "responsible for what goes on in state government."
The Republican governor says residents should use filters and bottled water until Flint's switch back to Detroit water is assessed.
Also Monday, Snyder created a committee to work long term on resolving the crisis and public health concerns.
