Grand Rapids named on of New York Times "52 Places to Go in 2016"

Of all the place you could visit in the entire world in 2016 the New York Times is telling its readers Grand Rapids is one of them.

What puts the city on the list?

Each year the New York Times surveys travel writers from around the world asking what cities are a must visit?

In its “52 Places to Go in 2016”, the New York Times names Grand Rapids as one of only nine U.S. cities to crack the list. Only Park City, Utah was rated higher. Grand Rapids ranks 20th out of the best-of-the-best places to visit around the globe. The top three are Mexico City, Bordeaux, France and the Mediterranean “playground” of Malta.

What the New York Times and its travel writers like about Grand Rapids are attractions like Frederik Meijer Gardens, the Downtown Market, ArtPrize and what 40 craft breweries along the area’s ale trail.

Some of the other notables on the “52 Places to Go in 2016” list are Abu Dhabi, Dublin, Toronto and Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
