Applications are now available for an open Grand Rapids City Commission seat.
The Second Ward seat is vacant after former commissioner Rosalynn Bliss was elected as the city’s mayor.
Interested candidates have until January 15 at 5 p.m. to file the appropriate paperwork – including a commission application, resume and income tax clearance form.
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, registered to vote and a resident of the second ward at time of appointment.
City officials say a list of applicants will be published on January 19 with a first round of interviews to follow.
A February town hall and public hearing are also planned.
A final decision and formal vote is expected from commissioners on February 23.
Applications and more information are available online at grcity.us, or the City Clerk’s office at 300 Monroe NW.
