The Salvation Army says more valuable coins are turning up in Michigan donations this holiday season.

he Bay City Times reports  two Kruggerrands were deposited earlier this month in a kettle outside a grocery store in Bay County's Bangor Township. The Salvation Army's Maj. Mike Myers says similar coins were donated in Bay County in 2013 and 2014.

Myers says each coin is worth more than $1,100, boosting fundraising efforts.

Earlier this month, the Salvation Army said a coin worth $1,100 was deposited in a kettle at a grocery store in Flushing. And for the third year in a row, the Salvation Army said a Kruggerrand worth $1,200 was dropped into a holiday collection kettle in St. Clair Shores.
