Charges filed in southeast Grand Rapids homicide

The City of Grand Rapids Police Department says two men involved in the March shooting death of Donavin Guy have been arraigned.

Two 19-year olds, Allijha David Ashley and Devin Jamon Barnes were charged Wednesday in connection with the homicide of 28-year old Donavin Guy.

In 61st District Court, Ashley was charged with Open Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, Gang Membership, and Felony Firearm. Barnes was charged with Assault with Intent to Murder and Gang Membership. Judge David Buter denied bond to both men and they could face a maximum penalty of up to life in prison. A Preliminary Examination is set for December 2nd.

Back in October, Matthew Lee Chaffin was charged with Assault with Intent to Murder and Gang Membership.

The case dates back to March 4th when Grand Rapids police arrived at 510 Dickson Street SE where they discovered Donavin Guy had been shot to death.
