Lake Macatawa pipeline with deformities to be replaced

andreacrossmanortman.point2agent.com

A fuel pipeline under Lake Macatawa is set to be replaced after recent inspections identified several abnormalities in the current structure.

The Holland Sentinel reports  HT Engineering is heading up the project to replace the submerged pipeline.

Officials say the company is concerned with the long-term effects these problems could have on the pipeline.

Federal regulations give the company 180 days from detection to repair or replace the pipe.

The pipeline is owned by Portage-based Wolverine Pipeline Co. and carries both gasoline and diesel.

The entire process is expected to take about six weeks. Crews could shorten the length of the project by working around the clock for half of that time.
