Historic building reopening after about $22M renovation

mlive.com

A historic building in Grand Rapids is reopening after a roughly $22 million renovation project.

LC Companies LLC holds an event Thursday for Klingman Lofts, which marks a new era for the former Klingman's warehouse. Rockford Construction began work during the spring of 2014 and the building now has 83 apartments on four floors.

The building is near the Downtown Market and in a hot new neighborhood.

Parts of the building were 118 years old. The Grand Rapids Press reports it actually is made up of five buildings, built between 1897 and 1922.

The building was originally for H.E. Shaw Furniture Co. The Klingman' warehouse building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
