Man convicted of slaying, robbery, arson gets life in prison

A man convicted in the stabbing death of a 50-year-old man who allowed his killer and others into his Michigan home to keep warm while drinking beer has been sentenced to life in prison.

Roger Davis was sentenced Thursday in Kent County Circuit Court.

He was found guilty last month of first-degree murder, robbery and arson.

Richard Priebe was stabbed and set afire last November in his Byron Township home, near Grand Rapids.

His wallet, debit card and checkbook were taken.

John Liebek and Angie Smith pleaded guilty to the robbery, not murder.

Liebek has been sentenced to 30 to 45 years in prison and Smith faces a Nov. 12 sentencing.

Priebe's sister Kathy Rinard said during the hearing that relatives "couldn't even see him to say goodbye."
