Social club for arts coming to Grand Rapids
A historic building in Grand Rapids that once housed a fraternal Knights of the Pythias chapter will soon become an arts and social club.
The Grand Rapids Press reports that the 123-year-old Harris Building is expected to open in January as The Renaissance Club.
Club members will have access to a piano bar and lounge, a game room, and a ballroom for live music and theater, among other amenities.
Building owner Bob Dykstra describes it as an "athletic club for the arts."
The building also will host 18 works in the $500,000 ArtPrize competition opening Sept. 23.
