A 34-year-old southwestern Michigan man has been arrested for fleeing police and drunken driving.
The Van Buren County sheriff's office says Sunday that deputies tried to stop the Allegan resident Saturday night in Gobles for reckless driving and running a stop sign.
A chase ensued with speeds reaching 70 mph.
Sheriff's officials say the driver stopped but had to be removed from his vehicle when he refused to get out.
Inside were two open cans of beer and an empty whiskey bottle.
He is charged with driving "super drunk." A breath test registered a .22 blood alcohol level.
Michigan's legal driving limit is 0.08 percent.
The man also faces a third operating while intoxicated charge in the past year, resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license.
