An investigation of Michigan lawmakers who had an extramarital affair alleges numerous instances of deceptive and "outright dishonest" conduct to cover it up.
The House Business Office report accuses Republican Reps. Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat of lying to investigators and showing a lack of respect to constituents.
The summary released Monday says the legislators asked staff to lie about their whereabouts and gave them tasks exclusively political in nature. House Speaker Kevin Cotter is likely to name members to a special committee to investigate the lawmakers' fitness for office.
Courser and Gamrat have apologized but declined to resign.
Courser has admitted to orchestrating a fictional email that said he was caught with a male prostitute - to make his affair with Gamrat less believable if it was exposed.
