The Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance will host an awareness event, “Shake
Your Teal Feathers 5K and 1-mile run/walk,” on Sunday, August 21st at Meadows in Millenium Park.
There is an un-timed 5K run at 1pm , and the 1-mile free fun run/walk begins at 1:10 AM. Both events
take you through scenic Millenium Park. Registration is now open at MIOCA.org.
Incentives include:

● Ovarian Cancer Survivor Recognition
● Post-Event Munchies
● Car parade
● Silent Auction
● Kids 17 and under participate free with each registered adult
In 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic MIOCA hosted a Shake Your Teal Feathers Car Parade that took
participants on wheels to keep folks safe. In 2021 our event was canceled. We are excited that this year
we can return to our 5k format and fun /run while still having the car parade as an added element. We
look forward to honoring those who have bravely fought ovarian cancer and celebrating our survivors.
Ovarian cancer is the most lethal gynecologic cancer due to a lack of public awareness, no early
detection test and effective treatments so bringing this event to the communities in West Michigan we
hope will help to save lives. Every 23 minutes a person in the U.S. is diagnosed with this cancer.
