Grand Rapids’ Gerald R. Ford International Airport is in the running for the best small airport by USA TODAY – an honor it won in 2023.
The publication’s 10Best.com provides users with travel content for top attractions, things to see and do, and restaurants for top destinations around the world.
The Ford Airport was voted #1 in 2023 with amenities listed as ranging from a dedicated military welcome center to plane-themed playrooms for children, and craft beer offerings for passengers before boarding begins.
The Ford Airport serves nearly four million passengers a year with seven commercial airline partners offering nonstop flights to over 30 destinations.
The airport is currently undergoing a $600 million capital expansion program known as ELEVATE with improvement projects including an expansion of Concourse A with eight new gates, a federal inspection station to support international passenger flights, a relocation of the air traffic control tower, and an additional parking garage.
Nominees for USA TODAY’s the 10 Best are chosen by a panel of experts with a public vote to choose the overall winner.
The public is invited to cast one vote per person per day through September 23rd at 10best.com/awards.
