Start Garden has chosen its 100 finalists, who will each automatically receive $1,000 and be entered to compete for more than $500,000 in cash at its big event in September at Calder Plaza.
In a news release, Start Garden says after days of viewing video pitch submissions, judges came to a decision on the top 100 finalists who move on to compete in what’s called Demo Day. A private event will be held on Monday as Start Garden hands out the one-thousand dollar checks with the Demo Day event taking place on September 18th.
The Start Garden "100" is now in its 6th year. In its first five years, officials say the 100 has proven to help remove barriers to entrepreneurship based on the belief that anyone from any neighborhood, regardless of resources, deserves a shot at launching a business idea.
