Mike Rogers is reportedly weighing a bid to replace Michigan’s senior U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow when she retires at the end of her current term in 2024

Several media outlets report that former Michigan Republican Congressman Mike Rogers is close to making a decision about whether to run for Debbie Stabenow’s seat in the U.S. Senate.

Rogers, an ex-FBI agent, built a reputation as a leading voice on national security when he chaired the House Intelligence Committee.

He left Congress in 2015. The long-time Republican rejected Donald Trump’s claims that the 2020 presidential election was rigged…and has said the former president’s time “has passed.”

If he takes the plunge, Rogers would join a field of candidates that includes, among others, current Democratic Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin – who also has strong national security credentials.

Former Republican Congressman Peter Meijer and ex-Detroit Police Chief James Craig are reportedly considering joining the race as well.
