Gas prices down across Michigan, metro GR among the state’s highest

AAA says Michigan gas prices have dropped 20 cents from a week ago. The Michigan state average now down 85 cents from this time last month

Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $3.24 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 85 cents less than this time last month but still 4 cents more than this time last year.

A news release says motorists are paying an average of $48 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of about $3 from 2021's highest price last November.

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand remained low.

Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group, says quote, "Michigan motorists have seen gas prices steadily decline for the past five weeks with some metro areas seeing prices even lower than this time last year," she adds, "As demand remains low and stocks grow, drivers will likely continue to see pump prices decrease through this week."

The most expensive gas price averages were found in Traverse City, Jackson and Grand Rapids while the least expensive averages were found in Metro Detroit Lansing and Flint.
