A news release says one meal will serve the neighboring community while the other will be for those connected to Guiding Light’s recovery program.
On Sunday, Nov. 20, Guiding Light will open its doors for the Thanksgiving Community Meal, which is for anyone in the Heartside neighborhood who wishes to take part. and leaders are welcoming the opportunity to have this event in person after having to adjust to takeout meals the past two years.
Ally Velderman, Guiding Light Director of Community Engagement says, “Guiding Light has been a part of this area for decades and every year distributes hundreds of thousands of pounds of food to the community,” she adds, “This Thanksgiving meal is one of the ways we continue that commitment to being a good neighbor.”
The community meal takes place Sunday from noon to 1:30 p.m. This year, Fifth Third Bank is proud to partner with Guiding Light to provide support for the event.
Plus, the day before, on Saturday, Nov. 19, Guiding Light will host the Guiding Light Family Thanksgiving for people connected to the addiction recovery program. Guests will include the dozens of men who are currently in the program, their family and friends plus volunteers and past participants.
