The report says the Federal Child Tax Credit expansions brought 114-thousand Michigan children out of poverty

This comes as Michigan's governor and legislature negotiate tax relief plans with the state's 7-billion dollar budget surplus

An annual report from the Michigan League for Public Policy suggests a number of COVID-era policies over the last two years decreased child poverty.

The report says the Federal Child Tax Credit expansions brought 114-thousand Michigan children out of poverty. It says expansions to the federal and Michigan Earned Income Tax Credits also helped.
