AAA: Another Record High For Gas Prices-Up 44 Cents From Last Week
The Michigan state average is up 44 cents compared to a week ago.
AAA says Michigan gas prices continue the increase from last week. The Michigan state average is up 44 cents compared to a week ago.
“We are not the highest in the county, not the highest either way, up or down.”
That’s Gary Bubar, AAA Traffic Safety Specialist for AAA in Michigan. He says once again Michigan gas prices are up. This week up 44 cents from a week ago, setting yet another record.
“These are not records we want to set. The average price is 5. 04 per gallon for regular unleaded.”
Bubar says we continue to have what he calls the triple whammy effect. Diminishing national stocks coupled with an increased summer demand, the war in Ukraine and of course, the price of crude oil. He adds, forecasts are not promising for any time soon. But he does say there are some things motorists can do to make it a bit easier on the wallet.
“If you’re vehicle is in need of maintenance now’s a good time to do it. Make sure that the tire pressure is what your manufacturer recommends, that can mean 2-3 gallons per mile. Another thing you can do is pay cash.
Right now, motorists are paying an average of more than 75 dollars for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline. But Bubar says that of course can change.
