Grand Valley State University was named by Forbes as one of the top 25 employers — and among the top three in education — in Michigan.
Forbes released its list of America's Best-In-State Employers 2021 this week. Criteria for selection includes survey responses of employee experiences such as working conditions, salary, potential for growth, and diversity.
Only 75 Michigan companies with more than 500 employees were recognized. Mychal Coleman, is the chief Human Resources Officer. He says the Forbes recognition positions Grand Valley for world-class distinction.
“Obtaining this type of distinction, places us and gives us decisive competitive advantage for recruitment. It builds and strengthens and reinforces our culture that we’re going in the right direction, and it gives us an advantage, a statewide advantage when recruiting-a preference.”
Coleman adds, being one of the top in Michigan is only the beginning.
“We’re not satisfied with just the state numbers. We’re pleased. But it just puts us on one platform and one step closer to national and global recognition as employer of choice by developing, further developing, more sophisticated human capital strategies.”
Grand Valley employs 1,760 faculty and 2,050 staff members.
