In the race for Michigan State House Representative in the 91st District, Republican Greg VanWoerkom beat Democrat Tanya Cabala taking in an unofficial 55 percent of the vote according to the Associated Press.
Shortly after winning the 91st District, VanWoerkom says it took a moment for the reality to sink it that he’d won.
“It was a bit surreal. (We) put a lot of effort into this," Van Woerkom said. "Very thankful for all my supporters that got out and heard our message about continuing the comeback here in Michigan and in Muskegon County.”
Previously VanWoerkom served as the District Director for US Congressman Bill Huizenga. This will be his first term as State Representative.
