The Kent Area Narcotics Enforcement Team has seized marijuana and other items from an unlicensed Oakfield Township business

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office received information from community residents that minors were able to purchase nicotine vape pens from Nature’s Edge, formerly Greenville Hydroponics. Neither is licensed or registered as an adult-use dispensary with Michigan’s Cannabis Regulatory Agency.

Last May, the business was cited after a KCSO decoy was able to purchase a nicotine vape pen despite being under the legal age of 21.

Months later, an area school resource officer received information that the business was selling marijuana and related products to students. That’s when Kent County’s narcotics team began investigating, leading to three search warrants last month.

During the search, the team seized 3,200 grams of illegally grown marijuana and marijuana products, along with 4,100 vape pens, two handguns, and $39,500.

The KCSO says it’s seeing a consistent trend where youth have access to nicotine vape pens, marijuana, and related products. It also said the investigation is ongoing and thanked the community for its attentiveness.
