Michiganders for Civic Resilience is a grassroots effort lead by two women with competing political philosophies, but still believe common ground can be found among their parties.

Former Michigan House Leader Christine Greig leads the democratic side of MCR. Her co-founder is Former Republican Michigan Senate President Pro Tempore Tonya Schuitmaker.

The event featured speakers from both sides of the political aisle sharing ideas on ways to bridge the ever-widening political divide. The initiative is supported by The Carter Center and the Ford Presidential Foundation.
“Two political rivals but in the end of their lives, they actually became very good friends and so, while they might not have agreed on how to deal with every issue, I think the teachings and the friendship that was formed by each of them can really be an example for all Americans.”
