The Right Place

The City of Grand Rapids continues its search for proposals as part of its participatory budget.  They’re in the second round of requests for selected projects. The city says it hopes to have agreements with selected partners by the fall to make community ideas a reality.

The City of Grand Rapids is looking for individuals, organizations, companies or agencies to conduct or submit proposals in at least three areas which include, “Youth Affordable Housing and Support, Support for Victims of Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking, and Community Support & Beautification initiatives.”

The City is preparing and awarding the “requests for proposals” or RFP’s for 12 projects and ideas selected through the Participatory Budgeting Grand Rapids or “PBGR” public vote process which was held last year.

The City’s participatory budgeting initiative is a democratic process that allows residents the opportunity to help determine how public funds are spent.

The deadline for current proposals is 11:59 pm, Friday August 4th.

The PBGR projects, which span across the City’s three wards, are funded by $2 million of American Rescue Plan Act funds.
