Slotkin’s appearance at a bar in Lansing was her first Senate campaign event in the House district she currently represents.
Slotkin says she would push for Michigan’s economic development and defend voting rights and abortion rights. She says she wants to be part of a wave of younger leaders in government.
“No matter who comes next, it's a different generation. And I think that's a positive thing. I think we need different thinking in Washington, we need a different approach.”
Slotkin’s run for Senate leaves her House seat more competitive in 2024. She says she’ll work to ensure a Democrat continues to represent the district.
