Whitmer says the directive will ensure state rules and regulations align with the amendment. Voters approved it as Proposal 3 in November. She says the directive will also re-affirm that people from out-of-state will be protected if they travel to Michigan for abortion services.
“Michigan state government will not cooperate with anyone proceeding against an individual for seeking reproductive health care here.”
The directive does not require legislative approval. The amendment officially takes effect on December 24th
