Benson’s opponent for Secretary of State, Republican Kristina Karamo, is a plaintiff in a lawsuit that seeks to bar Detroiters from voting absentee remotely.
While Benson wouldn’t comment on that case specifically, she did comment on election lawsuits in general.

Benson says election law is clear: citizens have the right to cast their ballot absentee or in person, free from intimidation. She says her office will continue to enforce that law and provide clarification to voters and clerks as litigation is resolved.
