West Michigan first responders banned together on Tuesday to donate hundreds of presents to patients at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.
"Its an excess of 500 individual toys: American Girl dolls, Mattel memory games...very neat stuff so hopefully we’ll be able to brighten the kids holidays a little bit," Grandville Police Chief Paul Anglim said.
The local response teams partnered with the First Responders Children’s Foundation (FRCF), a national non-profit organization that provides financial relief to the families of first responders who have been injured or killed in the line of duty, to make the day happen. FRCF’s Toy Express program provides first responder families and children in first responder communities nationwide, with free toys that bring holiday cheer.
“All first responders have a soft spot for any kids, especially ones who are experiencing some type of medical issue you know, everybody’s hearts go out to them," Anglim said.
