U.S. Rep. Peter Meijer, (R-Grand Rapids, MI-3)
U.S. House of Representatives

The U.S. House votes to keep the federal government funded through early 2022.

H.R. 6119 is known as the Further Extending Government Funding Act. The U.S. House voted Thursday in favor of the short-term Continuing Resolution funding the federal government through mid-February.

U.S. Rep. Peter Meijer voted in favor of a two-month Continuing Resolution in September averting a government shutdown. But this time the Grand Rapids Republican reconsidered his position, “I voted in good faith for a CR in September and was met by irresponsible, bad faith actions from Democratic leadership. I do not support another short-term extension that would give them more time to waste, so I voted ‘no’ on today’s CR. At some point, Congress must start doing the work of the American people.”

Zeeland Republican, U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga also voted against the resolution.

It’s now up to the U.S. Senate to act before a midnight Friday deadline avoiding a weekend shutdown.
