Rabbi Shadick

With so many people laid off or struggling, it’s hard to know where to turn. Faith communities across West Michigan are responding to the pandemic as best as they can. Here to discuss the response from Temple Emmanuel is Rabbi Schadick.

Rabbi, what is your community doing in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic?

“We have been reaching out to our members in a way that we have never done before. We actually took our entire membership list and asked our board of trustees members to make phone calls just to make sure that everyone who is a member of our congregation is called to check in on them and see how they’re doing.

At this time when we have so much uncertainty, we want to connect with everyone to make sure that they have the thing they need. So it’s really been an opportunity for us to reconnect with people we haven’t seen perhaps in a while, but to also to make sure that we’re doing right by them. So it’s been very worthwhile.
