People across Michigan have submitted more than 300 tips related to potential clergy abuse within the Catholic Church.

Last October the Attorney General’s office executed search warrants on all 7 dioceses [DIE-oh-sees] in the state. Attorney General Dana Nessel says those raids resulted in hundreds of thousands of pages of documents related to its investigation of potential sexual abuse since 19-50.

This is just the start of the investigation. Nessel says she wants people to contact her office with any information.

“What we’re doing is we’re strongly urging victims, or anyone who knows of a victim to contact the state’s team of certified law enforcement investigators.”

The Detroit diocese and others say they will continue to cooperate with Nessel’s investigation.
