A new state board will put together a plan for improving broadband internet access in Michigan.

Governor Rick Snyder created a group charged with studying the state’s landscape and challenges when it comes to internet access.  Right now, rural areas, like in northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula don’t always have reliable and affordable internet access.

Ari Adler is a spokesperson for the governor. He says access to internet helps improve economies.

“We need to make sure that we have great internet and broadband access for everyone across the state. Whether that’s in individual homes or in businesses.”

The announcement is part of a week of daily project rollouts about infrastructure and the environment. This is the governor’s final year in office since he is term limited.
