State police say recent efforts to enforce child exploitation crimes resulted in more than 1,300 arrests nationwide.

The two-month initiative began in April and was coordinated by Internet Crimes Against Children task forces across the country. It targeted perpetrators of online child sexual exploitation crimes.

The Michigan State Police say 28 of the 1,368 arrests occurred in Michigan.

The task forces also provided community presentations and trainings as part of the initiative, including discussions on internet safety for parents and children.

Officials say more than 2,000 of these trainings were offered across the nation.

The MSP says more than 3,000 state, federal and local law enforcement agencies participated in the effort.
