Governor Rick Snyder says he looks forward to President Barack Obama’s arrival in Flint on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters in Grand Rapids Tuesday afternoon, Snyder calls the visit a good and bipartisan opportunity.
"It’s a good opportunity, the way I view it. It's going to be an opportunity to sit down, give him a briefing with a number of federal and local officials," he says. "To talk about what we’ve done, but (also) how we can work even better together on bipartisan solutions to help Flint."
Snyder also addressed the teacher 'sickout' at Detroit Public Schools.
"[The actions make] it more difficult to do legislative action," he says. "What they’re (the teachers are) doing is creating issues and concerns with legislators."
Snyder adds legislators advanced bills in state chambers on Tuesday.
"So [action in the legislature] is an opportunity to get a solution put in place, and I wouldn’t want to see these kind of activities make that more difficult."
Snyder and Flint Mayor Karen Weaver will meet for a briefing with President Obama on Wednesday. The President will also hold a roundtable forum with Flint residents and speak at a local high school.
