The Michigan Democratic Party is challenging signatures for three Republican candidates for governor.
Democrats claim they found fraud and date errors on nominating petitions for candidates James Craig…Tudor Dixon…and Perry Johnson.
Attorney Steven Liedel says candidacies could be at stake.
“It’s a simple issue of math. You will count and eliminate enough signatures until it’s mathematically impossible for a candidate to qualify. Or, you can count and if there are enough for a candidate to qualify, you will get there.”
He says he wants state election officials to now check through each of the petition sheets for problems with signatures and other errors.
But candidates in question say they doubt the challenges will be enough to remove them from the primary ballot.
