On the November 2nd ballot, Plainfield Township residents will be asked to consider the construction of a 52,000 square-foot Community Center adjacent to the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Belmont location. It’s a $23.5 million project that, if approved, the millage would cost the average Plainfield Township homeowner $87 annually over 20 years.
A multiuse community center has been on the township’s drawing board with the creation of the 2018 Community Center Citizens Advisory Committee. Its feedback providing a template for the new indoor space will include a gymnasium, walking track, fitness classrooms, meeting spaces a demonstration kitchen and areas for senior programming.
