The Grand Valley State University baseball program continues to be one of the most successful in Division II. Part of the team's consistent success is the recruitment of Junior College players. 

Critically acclaimed small movie Green Room opens in theaters today, along with the comedies Keanu and Mother's Day, the IMAX documentary A Beautiful Planet, the drama A Hologram For The King and family picture Ratchet & Clank.  WGVU breaks it all down with Ron Van Timmeran and Eric Kuiper from Celebration Cinema.

The Grand Rapids Symphony has raised $40 million for its endowment as part of a campaign that started in 2012. How will that $40 million dollars be used to secure future programming? WGVU talks with Peter Kjome, Grand Rapids Symphony President and CEO.     

Jazz guitarist Randy Napoleon releases new album "Soon"

Randy Napoleon is a young guitar virtuoso who performs straight ahead acoustic jazz.  He is also a Professor at Michigan State University.  Napoleon has a new CD out "Soon" on the Detroit Music Factory label.  He's appearing in concert in Grand Rapids at Mexicains sans Frontieres in downtown Grand Rapids, Saturday, April 30th at 8pm.

WGVU spoke with Randy Napoleon about his new recording and the upcoming concert.

Michigan officials have named Newaygo County the state’s newest Michigan Promise Zone. Local leaders say the scholarship program will offer educational –and economic – opportunities for the community.

Today on Midday West Michigan, WGVU talks to Newaygo County RESA Superintendent Lori Tubbergan Clark about the program, its impact, and what happens next.

Grand Valley State University held a special ceremony in its fieldhouse  honoring retiring Athletic Director, Tim Selgo.  It named the GVSU trophy hall the "Tim W. Selgo Showcase of Champions. " 

Bluesman Larry McCray headlines Local Blues Matters

International blues star Larry McCray is headling Local Blues Matters on Saturday, April 16th, at Billy's Lounge in Eastown, Grand Rapids.  McCray has been recording and touring for over 30 years.  In a feature interview, McCray reflects on his musical career, his process of composing music and what the audience in Grand Rapids can expect at Billy's Lounge.

In a press conference held on campus Thursday, April 7th, Grand Valley State University Vice President for Finance and Administration, Jim Bachmeier, announced the hiring of Keri Becker as the GVSU Director of Athletics.

Keri Becker will replace the retiring Tim Selgo.  She is the sixth Athletic Director in GVSU history and the first Women to hold the position.
