Officials are raising money for repairs and renovations on Grand Haven's two iconic lighthouses. The goal is to open both lighthouses to the public as museums and interpret them for educational purposes. President of the Grand Haven Lighthouse Conservancy says they will need to raise about a million dollars in the next couple of years. The fundraiser is expected to take place during Winter Fest in Grand Haven where live and silent auctions will be held. The Lighthouse Conservancy plans to open the lighthouses in 2021.

 In two years since it's opening, the Momentum Center for Social Engagement in Grand Haven has become a second  home for many, making a difference in people's lives. We talk to Barbara Lee VanHorssen about the latest with the Center.

The results of a state study into the discovery of PFAS in an Ottawa County school’s drinking water supply have been released.

In October, well water tests revealed elevated levels of PFAS in the drinking water at Robinson Elementary School in Grand Haven. Exceeding the EPA Advisory Level of 70 parts per trillion, the water was shut off and bottled water was supplied to students and staff.

Ottawa County officials say they’re planning a parkland project preserving dunes. Ottawa County is planning a multimillion-dollar project involving the purchase and development of new parkland along the Grand River in western Michigan.

The project in Ferrysburg includes preserving a section of Lake Michigan dunes and linking more than 2,000 acres of nearby parks and preservation areas.

Strangers salute WWII vet who died at 90 with no family

More than 100 people have paid their final respects to a World War II veteran from Michigan who died with no known relatives. About 150 people, some of whom never met Gordon Hale, gathered for his funeral Thursday at Grand Haven's Lake Forest Cemetery. 

A divisive ballot measure next week will ask citizens in Spring Lake whether to allow their local government to create a mechanism by which the village can disincorporate. If Spring Lake voters approve the charter amendment Tuesday, the village of about 3,200 people could start what would be a lengthy process of eliminating all village taxes while discontinuing specific services only the village provides.

Currently, the 17 mile stretch of the Grand River from Grand Haven to the Bass River inlet is navigable to motorboat traffic. What would it take to extend it to Grand Rapids? A feasibility study reveals the 40 mile stretch from Grand Rapids to Grand Haven could be restored to a navigable waterway and at a reasonable cost.
