A cargo pilot who regularly needed health checkups to keep his license contacted a University of Michigan doctor in 2000. He said he soon learned there was nothing routine about a visit with Robert Anderson.

He said Anderson told him to undress, put on a medical gown and get on a table, instead of simply checking the man’s vision, hearing and heart. He said the doctor touched his genitals and gave him a prostate exam.

Dwight Hicks left New Jersey as a teenager, seeking to take a step toward his NFL dreams by playing football at the University of Michigan.

Hicks was willing to do whatever it took to compete in the 1970s and says the price paid included being sexually assaulted by the late Dr. Robert Anderson during examinations.

Dozens of more victims who claim they were molested by a University of Michigan doctor filed a lawsuit against the school Thursday, including a former football player who said he told legendary coach Bo Schembechler about the abuse in the early 1980s.

It’s the first time that a victim has publicly said Schembechler was aware of allegations against the late Dr. Robert Anderson, who worked at Michigan, especially with athletes, from the mid-1960s through 2003.

A judge says the University of Michigan must stop reaching out to alumni in its investigation of a doctor who is accused of molesting athletes and students for decades. Federal Judge Victoria Roberts is overseeing lawsuits by victims of Dr. Robert Anderson. She agrees with attorneys who say it's wrong for the university to communicate with potential plaintiffs in class-action litigation. The university says it's writing to more than 300,000 former students, asking them to share information that "may be helpful" in the Anderson investigation.

A former gymnast at the University of Michigan said he tried to talk to his coach about being assaulted by a campus doctor during a routine physical in 1969 but was brushed off with a sneering smile that signaled “we’re changing the subject.”

Ward Black, a member of the 1970 national championship team, spoke exclusively to The Associated Press about being molested by Robert Anderson. He’s the latest to reveal that university coaches decades ago apparently were aware of allegations about the doctor but didn’t take the complaints higher.

University of Michigan officials say the school hopes to settle lawsuits brought by hundreds of people who say they were sexually abused by a sports doctor who worked for the university for decades. Board of Regents Chair Ron Weiser and school President Mark Schlissel say in a Tuesday that the university wants to work with lawyers for of victims who say they were abused by Dr. Robert Anderson. He died in 2008. Attorney Mike Cox says he thinks the university is trying to avoid public and court scrutiny for what it did to these survivors by settling out of court.

Several men alleging sexual abuse by a deceased University of Michigan doctor have retained law firms that are representing accusers who sued Michigan State University and Ohio State University in similar cases, attorneys said Monday. Dr. Robert Anderson, who died in 2008, is accused of assaulting patients and school athletes during medical exams. It's unclear if the University of Michigan will see the magnitude of lawsuits facing Ohio State, which are pending, and Michigan State, which settled for $500 million.á
