Vice President Mike Pence hosts 'GOP Unity' rally in Grand Rapids

United States Vice President Mike Pence spoke to an enthusiastic crowd in Grand Rapids, Michigan last night. As part of a 'GOP Unity' rally after Tuesday's primary, Pence said he was proud to support gubernatorial nominee Bill Schuette, and United States Senate hopeful John James. The Vice President encouraged the crowd to vote for Republican leaders on all levels in the state.

"We have got to continue to elect leaders at every level that will support the agenda and vision President Trump brought to our nation's capital," Pence said. "And the truth of the matter is, Republicans have to come together. That is really what tonight is all about."

Missing at the unity rally was Republican Governor Rick Snyder and Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley. Snyder had endorsed Calley in the gubernatorial race which Schuette won by a nearly 2-1 margin.

Pence said the Repbulican party has a strong momentum not only in Michigan but nationally as well. He also spoke of President Donald Trump making good on his promise to cut taxes.

"Right before Christmas, in case you didn't notice, President Trump kept one of the biggest promises he made to the American people when he signed the largest tax cut and tax reform in American history. That is promises made, promises kept."

President Trump had endorsed Bill Schuette for governor. Schuette campaigned strongly on that endorsement.
