William Strampel, the former Dean of MSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, has been released from jail two weeks early. Dozens of people have been released from the Ingham County Jail in an effort to reduce the threat of spreading Coronavirus. The Lansing State Journal reports that those released include inmates near the end of their sentence, and others thought to be low level offenders.
Strampel was sentenced to a year in jail for crimes related to his supervision of convicted sex offender Larry Nassar, and his treatment of women. He had been scheduled for release on April 3rd after eight months behind bars, having received credit for good behavior. Instead, he was released last Thursday.
