Donald Trump won the state of Michigan in the 2016 Presidential Election. Yet, a recent statewide poll indicates that heading into his 8th month in the Oval Office, President Donald Trump receives an overall positive job approval rating of 35% compared to a 62% negative rating.
Michigan pollster EPIC-MRA is releasing a series of survey results this week. WGVU breaks down part one.
Lansing-based EPIC-MRA conducted its survey from August 27th through September 1st. It polled 600 registered Michigan voters, reaching 30 percent of them by cellphone.
A number of questions were asked like this one: “President Trump says that the investigations by the FBI, Justice Department and Congressional committees are nothing more than a witch-hunt aimed at him by his political enemies. Do you agree with President Trump or disagree with him?”
55% disagree while 34% agree.
Voters polled were asked to describe themselves; 36% called themselves a conservative, 34% moderate, 17% liberal and 13% were undecided or refused to declare.
The survey continued asking if they, “worry about President Trump having access to the nuclear codes and the authority to launch nuclear weapons?”
A total of 53% said it worried them while 38% were not really worried at all.
The poll delved into the President’s behavior in office and mental state. Here, respondents were split with 45% expressing President Trump is a mentally stable person and 43% stating he’s unstable.
And there was the traditional question, “Overall, would you say that things in the country are generally headed in the right direction, or, have things seriously gotten off on the wrong track?”
29% responded right direction, 57% say wrong track.
