Spectrum Health is offering guidance to West and Southwest Michigan businesses as they adapt to operating in a new environment with the COVID-19 Pandemic. They’ve developed a “toolkit” to help out.

“In the early days here in West Michigan, a lot of local businesses stepped up for us, providing us with hand sanitizer and masks, they took their business and changed it for us in healthcare, and we want to do the same.”

Keith Hustak is the Vice President of A.P.P Services and Operations at Spectrum Health.  He says they’re providing what they’re calling a “Tool Kit” or “Playbook” to West Michigan as businesses get on track to re-open during and post COVID-19.

The goal is to equip employers and employees with advice on infection prevention and practical resources to help increase safety and minimize risk as businesses start to open back up.

“But we need to do it safely. We can just do this haphazardly. Your business must look a lot different than it did pre covid.  And so, we being the healthcare experts, we’ve developed a playbook. It has what you should be doing before you open up, what you should be thinking of before you open up, what kind of social distancing you should have, what kind of hand sanitizer you should have. What kind of cleaning supplies you should have. What are the cleaning protocols?”

Hustak says with the basic toolkit or playbook already established, they can now start customizing it to line up with specific businesses.

“Now we can start branching out and start doing other toolkits. We’re already looking at schools that want to re-open in the fall.  Maybe we take the toolkit and change it just slightly so schools can use it. Think about religious communities, so can we draft a tool kit for them.”

Hustak says the toolkit offerings are free to the public. He says you can find all the information you need about the tool kit and a lot more, at Spectrum.org
