Spectrum Health named a Top 15 Health System

A national study focusing on hospital performance has named Spectrum Health one of the 15 Top Health Systems in 2016.

Nearly 340 health systems were studied by Truven Health Analytics. Of those in the Large Health System category, or systems with an annual operating budget of more than $1.75 billion, Grand Rapids-based Spectrum Health is rated in the top five.

Spectrum tells us it scored highly in Truven’s eight key categories including Better Survival Rates where Spectrum “experienced 2-percent fewer deaths than non-winning peer-group hospitals.” It also “had three percent fewer complications than patients in other systems.” Truven also gave Spectrum Health high marks for shorter hospital stays and better patient safety.

This is the fifth straight year Spectrum has received the 15 Top Health System honor.
