Small Business owner uses loan to avoid closing

Isabel Lopez-Slattery is the owner of Dreams by Bella photography. Before COVID19, Garcia had plans to expand and rebrand her businesses but today she’s using the money from a loan she received to keep her business from closing.

“to make the business survive this era by investing in other areas that I didn’t know it needed to be possible.”

One way Lopez-Slattery is innovating is by offering her photography services to local families from their doorsteps, or backyards while maintaining social distance guidelines.

“One thing with family photos is trying to get everybody scheduled, right? So, now that everybody is home I am going to start doing that and see how it turns out.”

Earlier this month, Lopez-Slattery received a substantial loan from Rende Progress Capital whose mission is helping businesses owned by people of color. RPC is a Community Development Financial Institution  co-founded by Eric Foster.

“That important and urgency of eliminating the racial gap is an urgent one everyday even before the coronavirus.”

Lopez-Slattery says like many other entrepreneurs she’s struggling, but she is thankful for the opportunity she has today to reinvent her business.
