Republican John James says he will run again for the US Senate

Republican John James says he will run again for the US Senate after losing last year to Debbie Stabenow. This time, James would face Senator Gary Peters.

James is a West Point graduate, Iraq war veteran, and business owner. Republican leaders like his resume, and hope James can help the GOP ticket win over more African-American voters.

James announced that he’s running on Fox News.

“We’re going to make sure we put the American people first. We’re going to put country over party. We’re going to put the people of the state of Michigan first.”

Democrats wasted no time in going on the attack, saying James is trying to re-invent his image after losing his last race.
James ran as a big supporter of President Trump, and the president returned the admiration. Michigan could be a critical state for President Trump’s expected 2020 reelection bid, and boosting Republican turnout here could be a critical factor.
