A published report says some Detroit suburbs are buying tax-foreclosed homes and selling them to developers who flip them for profits.

The Detroit News reports that the practice has prompted criticism that local officials are driving Wayne County residents from their homes.

In Lincoln Park, several former owners are asking city officials to stop the developers from evicting them.

The city bought 90 homes this summer from the county treasurer before they could be sold at an annual public auction.

The city's goal was to stop blight and prevent absentee landlords from purchasing homes.

Taylor purchased 106 properties, Redford Township took 76, Dearborn got 35 and Garden City obtained 28.

After pleas to City Council, Dearborn recently resold eight occupied homes to ex-owners with restrictions that they maintain them.
