A 19-year-old western Michigan man who called 911 on himself after another man was stabbed during an attempted robbery at a gas station has been found incompetent for trial.
The Holland Sentinel reports Thursday that an examination by forensic experts did determine that competency for Bret Williams could be achieved through treatment.
Williams of Hudsonville is charged with assault with intent to murder and attempted armed robbery.
Two gas station clerks in Blendon Township, west of Grand Rapids, were able to flee during the armed robbery in February, but a customer was stabbed after entering the Ottawa County business.
Williams will be held while he undergoes psychiatric treatment.
